X-late Launched on Slack

Today, I’m thrilled to announce the official launch of X-late on the Slack App Directory! This has been a journey close to my heart. X-late started as a simple solution to a problem we faced daily at X-Tech.

At X-Tech, we run a software development agency with teams spread across different regions. Working with developers and clients who speak different languages created constant communication challenges. Our team includes both Chinese and English speakers. We needed a better way to understand each other.

I built X-late initially just for our team. The first version was basic but solved our immediate needs. It helped us translate messages between team members who spoke different languages.

A game-changing moment happened when I enabled our Chinese-speaking teammates to talk directly with clients on Slack through X-late. This removed me as the translation bottleneck. Our clients noticed this seamless communication right away.

Soon, these same clients started asking if they could use X-late too. Many of them were multi-lingual teams themselves. They also worked with clients who spoke different languages on Slack. We realized we weren’t alone in needing this solution.

Over time, we refined X-late based on real-world usage and feedback. We focused on making it intuitive and seamless to use. The bot needed to feel like a natural part of Slack conversations.

After months of development and testing, we’re proud to make X-late available to everyone through the Slack App Directory. The response has been amazing so far.

What makes X-late different from other translation tools? We built it with three core principles in mind:

  1. Accurate Translations: We use the best AI-powered translation provider to ensure your messages are translated accurately. Clear communication is essential for productive teamwork.

  2. Preserves Formatting: Unlike other translation bots, X-late maintains Slack’s Markdown formatting. Your message structure stays intact through translation.

  3. Simple User Experience: Just add @xlate to your channel, and it starts working immediately. By default, it translates non-English messages to English. You can also use flag emoji reactions to translate messages to specific languages.

We’ve designed our pricing to be fair and transparent. Many translation bots charge per user, which gets expensive quickly for larger teams. X-late offers a single price for your entire workspace, based only on the number of characters translated.

Our free trial gives you 30,000 characters to test with your team. After that, plans start at $9.99 per month for 200,000 characters. We believe this approach makes X-late accessible to teams of all sizes.

X-late currently supports 28 languages, including Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, German, Greek, English, Spanish, Estonian, Finnish, French, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Lithuanian, Latvian, Norwegian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian and Chinese.

Seeing X-late help other teams communicate more effectively has been incredibly rewarding. We’re committed to continuing to improve the product based on your feedback.

Try X-late with your team today and say goodbye to language barriers on Slack. We’d love to hear how it helps your team communicate better.
